Masthead Ideas

Magazine Name Ideas

Over drive- I think this name would be good because it is memorable, also this word isn't used that often but when it is it is used in a positive way, whilst being a good thing to think of when thinking of pop music and fashion.
Boss- this is a very powerful word and so would stand out as being a bold magazine to attract the audience, it is also short so would be good as a magazine name. Also, because it will be a music magazine ‘boss’ could make you think of looking the best or being seen as very good just like a boss.
Stage- this will connect with the theme of my magazine being new music and just having the music atmosphere throughout the whole magazine.
Golden- this would make the magazine sound like the best of the range whilst making out that the popular and chart music is as good as gold.
Banger- ‘bang’ is an onomatopoeia so would straight away attract the audience whilst the word ‘banger often being used to describe a good song so this would be remembered as a music magazine that includes good popular music
Icon- my magazine is popular music and fashion combined so this would connect with having celebrity style icons and fashion icons throughout the magazine

Choosing my final name

I asked 18 people that fit the target audience of my magazine, to choose which name out of the 6 that they liked best and thought would fit that genre well, whilst standing out and grabbing the attention of readers. The most popular name chosen was ‘Boss’, this was my favourite choice out of the 6 also because I think that it is powerful and gives off the sassy attitude that many female teenagers have, also it reflects the powerful and good music that will be consisted in the magazine and predicts the look and type of style shown through the fashion and in the images on the cover and throughout. I also think it will stand out and be remembered because it’s a short word and my target audience are teenage girls so it gives off the kind of “girl power” atmosphere.
Results of masthead font choice
Out of the 12 people asked, 5 individuals said they preferred option D of my font ideas. It was said to be bold whilst having the good effect of being spread out, the audience liked the thought of  using a ‘$’ rather than just an ordinary ‘S’ because it make it more attractive and different whilst also hinting the thought of buying new things such as clothes inside the magazine. It is also pretty bold so will stand out on the top of the cover, however it is very plain in some aspects which could make it more eye catching.
